Turn your holiday dream into awesome reality!
Blessed with a spectacular natural beauty, the tropical island of Mauritius offers you fabulous weather and amazing sailing conditions, guaranteeing you a holiday you’ll remember for years.
Whether you’re an experienced sailor looking for a demanding Indian Ocean Sail-Away, or you’re a novice looking to build new skills in the exotic but safe lagoons around the hotel, this is without doubt the finest year-round sailing holiday on offer - and it’s more affordable than you might think.
Fantastic boats and great instructors
Our wide range of dinghies and catamarans waits for you on the beach, fully rigged and ready to set sail. As you’d expect, our centre is RYA recognised, ensuring excellent standards of teaching and safety from our skilled and qualified instructors.
Ideal sailing conditions
There are two distinct sailing areas next to your hotel. The protected inner bay has light cross-shore breezes and is perfect if you’re just learning to sail or you’re working on improving your skill set. Just outside of the reef the winds are stronger, ideal for blasting in controlled sessions out at sea, or for our Sail-Aways where you have a chance to explore nearby islands and more stunningly beautiful and pristine beaches.
Accommodation in Paradise
We’re based at the welcoming Coral Azur hotel, well-known for its intimate and personal service. Located directly on one of the island’s many beaches, it features lush gardens and rooms with private balconies and a pool and jacuzzi that offers views of the ocean with truly spectacular sunsets. Feel free to use the tennis court, kayaks and childcare facilities. Glass bottom boats allow you to view the underwater life of the reefs while the restaurants entice you with delicious local and international courses and the spa offers you pampering massages and treatments.
How to reach Mauritius?
Mauritius is a destination much in demand, especially at certain times of the year. Though it is a 10 or 11-hour flight from much of northern Europe, flights and accommodation can often be in short supply – so please if you’re seriously considering a holiday with us, we recommend you get in touch as early as possible. A one week’s stay based on half-board and full access to our sailing programme, instruction and Sail Aways starts at £1021 per person and non-peak season flights from the UK are around the £650-800 mark.
So what’s holding you back from sliding off your boat off the white sandy beach and into the clear blue water? Bask in the warm sun while the green palm trees fade in the distance as your Laser or Hobie Cat picks up the pace. The friendly people of Mauritius will welcome you with open arms. So call us now for the sailing holiday of a lifetime!
What makes a Wildwind sailing holiday on Mauritius so special?
Amazing tropical sailing conditions
Mauritius is much more than just a sunny destination, it is a sailors’ paradise! Obviously, it’s fantastic to go sailing and be enjoying gorgeous sunshine while at home the days have turned cold and grey. The conditions here are a perfect balance: the bay outside the hotel and inside the reef is calm and totally safe for beginners and for those who want to work on their skills in a controlled environment, while our expeditions outside the reef and our Sail-Aways to wonderful deserted beaches and offshore islands are an experience that you’re sure to treasure for the rest of your life. The winds are generally Force 2-4, with totally flat water inside the reef, and perhaps slightly more wind out to sea with a long swell. These are fantastic conditions for surfing catamarans and dinghies down the face of long evenly spaced waves that, like you, have travelled thousands of miles to be here.
Friendly local and European instructors
Wildwind has more than 30 years’ experience organizing sailing holidays for guests at our flagship base in Greece, with our instructors receiving praise and plaudits every week of the year. As you’d expect, we are an RYA recognized sailing centre, guaranteeing you the highest standards of safety and teaching. In Mauritius we have combined our expertise with the unique knowledge of the local sailors to create the best possible experience for you, on and off the water.
Great sailing equipment
We have chosen a range of equipment well suited to the conditions of Mauritius and the aspirations of our guests. Our catamaran fleet includes 18 foot Hobie Pacifics, Hobie 16 Race and Hobie 15’s, all fitted with spinnakers. These are ideal for Sail-Aways and for training inside the bay. Our dinghy fleet includes RS 500’s and 200’s, both modern high performance trapeze boats, as well as the classic Laser 1 with all rig sizes, as well as Picos for novices. We offer a fleet of 10 windsup boards, capable of being used as stand-up paddle-boards or as planning windsurfers when conditions permit. See the entire fleet
